D’Urville Hut to Morgan’s Hut
The quickest option is to arrange a boat transfer in advance with Lake Rotoroa Water Taxi . They run on demand trips from Rotoroa Village to the head of the lake.

There is a marked route along the east side of Lake Rotoroa, but in early 2015 a storm severely damaged the track and it was officially closed. Its worth checking the Alerts section of the Nelson Lakes National Park page on the DOC website to for any updates.

It takes about 4 hours to walk from D’Urville Hut to Morgans Hut. There is more information on huts and tracks in the area on DOC website link above.

D’Urville River (I/II-) from Morgan’s Hut to Lake Rotoroa
From about half an hour above Morgan’s Hut, Michaels group put on, and floated back to D’Urville Hut .

“For us it was a little low and there was much windfall and some washouts on the walk in track, I have heard of another trip getting in at near George Lyon Hut and I think it’s a little harder up that end. For us there was a lot of wood in the water above Morgan above were we put in. Some rapids to class II-; mostly flat and class I.”
