Our mission

We want to inspire packrafters of all abilities to explore our fantastic outdoors, building a love for these wild places, so that when they need our protection, we will stand up for them.

This site was founded by Dan Clearwater in 2016. With the help of a few willing authors and loads of contributions from the community, he’s been slowly growing and developing the site… (That’s Dan in the photo – taken by Richard Sidey)

Each year we have more than 13,000 individuals who visit the site more than 70,000 times. For the price of a coffee a month, your donation can help ensure this site remains open for everyone.

How are we funded?

PackraftingTrips.nz is funded through advertising, donations from the community, and a small yearly grant from the Packrafting Association of New Zealand. This income covers the fixed costs, web contractor fees and helps offset the time spent by the people working on the site.

The reality is that we’re volunteers, hoping for a few $ for beer money on our next packrafting trip!

This site takes a huge amount of work to maintain, develop and repair. Your financial contribution directly supports this effort. The more donations, the more we can do for the site.
