A short and satisfying roadside run, which starts easy, and gets harder as it flows through some scenic gorges.

Boyle River (II+) from Boyle Village to Windy Point
Start from the highway bridge next to Boyle Village. Initially, the run is simple braids and wave trains.

From Engineers Camp, several short gorges narrow the flow, creating proper II+ rapids that need maneuvering to safely negotiate.
These gorges are somewhat committing in places – its a good idea for groups to be competent at II+ paddling, maneuvering and self-rescue for this run. Its not a great spot for absolute beginners, or people who can’t make easy eddies or avoid hazards.

The take out is at Windy Point, where there is a swingbridge. The track from the swing bridge is the Windy Point track which leads east to the highway, and west to the Hope Valley.
Gauge
Visual at Boyle Lodge bridge.
It should look like enough water to float without hitting any rocks in the braids, but not raging or flooding.
The nearest gauge is Hope River at Glyn Wye, which is downstream below the confluence with the Hope & Boyle. It’ll show you if things are high, low, or reacting to rain.
Below is a video, showing the paddling on the lower half of this run, below Engineers Camp.
