Pororari River (I) swingbridge to SH6

A short scenic float through a huge limestone gorge, this could be the last section of a trip on the Inland Packtrack, or a short out and back from Punakaiki.

Thanks to Elias Love for the photos and info.

Pororari River (I) swingbridge to SH6
Depending on flows, you might have to start a little lower than the swing bridge. It’s a lovely scenic float back downstream, though you do need to keep your eye out for log jams!

Thanks for this one — lovely float it is.

Just a note that the main track along the river is closed for maintenance. We made a loop out of it instead, taking the inland pack track to the swingbridge for the put in.

    Cheers.

We did the river on high flow due to recent rain. It was still grade 1, running clear and no log jams. We started at the new bridge a little further up stream past cave creek confluence.
