The 20 Great Paddles were first mooted by Huw Miles; an idea to curate a list of the very best packrafting journeys in Aotearoa. But ‘best’ is so subjective, and we’d value your input.
If there’s a particular journey that you feel strongly about being in the 20 Great Paddles, then let us know. The list is intended to be somewhat evenly spread across the motu, and be accessible for strong intermediate paddlers. There’s an emphasis toward trips with interesting walking access, but a few ultra-classic car to car rivers have made the list
Some magnificent, but technically avanced trips have been left off, as have some world-class roadside runs.
